I got two gripes tonight. Five and Seven are killing me. Huh? By "Five" I mean Adobe Creative Suite 5, or just CS5. And by "Seven" I mean DeviantART UI version 7. I was so psyched when Adobe released a native 64-bit version of Photoshop. I really like how stable and fast Ps 12 seems when run in 64-bit mode. So much so that I edited the kernel flag string in my com.apple.Boot.plist file to boot into 64-bit mode by default. I had to wait for ViBook to finally release a 64-bit friendly driver for my third USB monitor but after that I was ready. But I was struggling to get all my plug-ins from CS4 working in CS5. Well I just read that most of your plug-ins will not run in 64-bit mode kb2.adobe.com/cps/836/cpsid_83… and it's true. When I changed my Get Info setting to run in 32-bit mode I get all my plug-ins back. In 64-bit I get none! Not even my lighting effects. Ps isn't worth spit without all the plug-ins. WTF Adobe? Is the plan to make every vendor recode all their plugins and then make everyone buy all new plugins? I've got more money invested in plugins than in the actual software! And what's the deal with UI v7 around here? Yeah it's beautiful looking on the surface but it's way harder to use! And I don't think I'm griping just because things are different. It's down right less functional. As a Product Manager by trade I have to wonder how the BETA testing went? When you zoom into a piece of art it does what, jumps to the right and all the functionality goes away? Who thought that one up! The new download button is better but editing or finding the author is just plain annoying. And every time I hit my profile page my dang llama jumps to the left and knocks my Profile/Gallery/Favs/Journal tab up off of my nav bar making the tab float around like an orphan. Its buggy and harder to navigate. It's like a bad trophy wife, sure it looks great but it's a pain in the azz. Let's get the UI back in shape folks.
PS: As of 6/10 V7's update is heading in the right direction!
